A Fresh Look for a Great Show By kdawson

The work.

Stone Ward and the AGFC felt it was important for the new open to set the tone for the improved format while appealing to both existing viewers and those watching for the first time. 360 Filmworks decided the best approach would be to combine exciting outdoor imagery with fast paced animation and music. Both the animation and footage feature popular consumptive sports, like hunting and fishing, as well as non-consumptive activities, such as bird watching and hiking.

360 Filmworks also developed a graphics package to complement the on location segments featured in the show. These graphics can be used to add entertainment value or convey extra information in conjunction with the high definition footage.

The brief.

When a television show has been on the airwaves for more than two decades, it has to evolve with its audience. So when the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) wanted to update their popular TV show, Talkin’ Outdoors, they approached Stone Ward and 360 Filmworks to rethink the show’s opening sequence and graphics package.

In addition to a new look, long time host Steve “Wildman” Wilson and producer Trey Reid also decided to make some changes to the format of the show. Rather than relying on in-studio segments, the show has transitioned to more of a magazine style with all segments being shot in high definition across Arkansas.
