“We all came down to Montreux, Lake Geneva on the shoreline.”
I never really knew the opening line to Deep Purple’s hit song “Smoke on the Water,” until I had the great fortune to visit Montreux, Switzerland, for the annual AMIN CEO/CFO conference.
Although the stated purpose of the conference was to gather senior management of both the domestic and international member agencies to brief one another on agency status, discuss industry trends, and listen to speakers who are industry experts in agency finance, operations, new business, etc., one of the unstated purposes of the conference was to establish and/or strengthen working relationships among the senior managers who run the agencies in the AMIN network. Over the course of the four-day conference, I had the pleasure of catching up with my agency peers who I’d met at previous conferences, and to meet new member agencies both from the United States and Europe. In fact, a new member in Sweden may be in position, along with another “sister agency” in London, to partner with Crowley Webb in support of some of our clients.
Montreux, Switzerland is nestled between Lake Geneva and the Alps; Swiss Alps on one side of the lake and the French Alps on the other. The sights and sounds of this magical place will be etched in my mind for a long, long time.
I consider myself a lucky man to be able to say that I had the chance to get down to Montreux, Lake Geneva on the shoreline.
